Johnny Rockets is the last place I'd ever think to find a veggie burger; maybe I shouldn't pass judgment so quickly. Now thanks to Johnny Rockets and PETA you can celebrate World Vegetarian Week (May 19 to 25) with a free veggie burger.

That’s right: Our favorite veggie burger, the Johnny Rockets Streamliner—the one that even your meat-eating uncle will love—is absolutely free* during the entire month of May.

I've noticed that fast food restaurants have been marketing those little snack wraps as if they're a healthier than eating the regular sized sandwich. Don't be fooled by this. It's important to know that many times snack wraps contain starchy white flour, trans fats and fatty condiments loaded with unnecessary calories. Try my healthy version of the snack wrap!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 Veggie Burger (I like Amy's California Veggie Burgers). You may also use a beef burger or chicken patty.
  • 1 medium sized whole grain wrap ( I love Trader Joe's Whole Grain Flax Wraps). The more fiber the better!!
  • 1 slice red onion
  • 1/2 cup iceberg or romaine lettuce
  • 2 tbs yellow mustard. You may use condiment of your choice.

DIRECTIONS:

  • Grill, fry or microwave burger pattie and cut into 4 strips
  • Arrange burger strips, onion, lettuce, and mustard in the wrap.
  • Wrap it up and enjoy!

The other day I tried Boca Chili for the very first time and was very impressed. The spicy chili has is a tasty vegetarian meal, I believe even meat eaters would enjoy. One package equals one serving containing only 150 calories. Boca chili is even South Beach Diet recommended!

To make Boca chili on a larger scale use this recipe!

If calories were posted right in front of you at a fast food restaurant, would that change the way you eat? The New York City Health Commissioner wants restaurants such as Burger King and McDonald's to spell out exactly how fattening their food is, right where people order. But are the fast food chains being unfairly singled out? Lesley Stahl explores this weighty issue.

This probably wont be the last time that I recommend an Amy's Kitchen product seeing as I like all that I've tried,  including Amy's Teryake Bowls. The roasted vegetables in a pocket sandwich was one of the healthier looking options available. It's made with organic shitake mushrooms, sweet onions and roasted red peppers. They're microwavable and ready to eat in less then 3 minutes, making them perfect for a meal on the run. They're vegan and cholesterol free as well. The pocket makes for a well balanced 230 calorie mini meal with 4 grams fiber and 6 grams protein.
