In case you were wondering how Demi Moore maintains such a youthful looking apperance, your questions are soon to be answered.

The actress's former personal trainer is set to reveal how he transformed the actress from a "meaty" middle-aged woman into a svelte stunner in an explosive new book.
In his upcoming exercise manual, fitness expert to the stars, Robb Parr, describes how clients like the formerly "soft"-bodied Madonna
and mother-of-three Moore, 45, required intense training to whip their figures into shape.
He writes: "(Demi) lacked a defined waist, carried too much meat on her thighs, and was, by movie-star standards, thick overall.
"To taper her waist, we decided to accentuate her shoulders, creating a V-shape. We trimmed her thighs, shaving off some of the excess fat from above her knees, and accentuated her butt, further emphasizing her waist."
Australian actress Naomi Watts, whom Parr also trained, is said to have started off as "fleshy, and we needed to trim and tighten so that she would fit the mould of a bikini-clad babe".

Now here's a good concept, a diet book that tells you not to eat something bad while providing a healthier back up plan. Authors David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding provide you with thousands of simple food swaps that can save you 10, 20, 30 pounds-or more.

BOOK DISCRIPTION: Americans spend more than $400 billion a year eating out, and behind each burger, turkey sandwich, and ice cream sundae is a simple decision that could help you control your weight-and your life. The problem is, restaurant chains and food producers aren't interested in helping you make healthy choices. In fact, they invest $30 billion a year on advertising, much of it aimed at confusing eaters and disguising the fat and calorie counts of their products. All of that has changed with EAT THIS, NOT THAT!. This book puts the entire food industry under the spotlight, and arms you with the savvy tricks and insider information it takes to eat well no matter where you are. With EAT THIS, NOT THAT! you're the expert in every eating situation, from the frozen food aisle to your favorite fast food joint to your local sports bar. You control your food universe-and lose the pounds you want--because, unlike every other customer, you'll know the smart choices to make-instantly!

EAT THIS, NOT THAT! is jam-packed with secrets the restaurant industry doesn't want you to know. For example:
Burger King doesn't want you to know that a BK Big Fish. Sandwich and fries have a whopping 1000 calories-nearly half your daily caloric intake! (Fish is usually healthy, but not this kind. Find out why with this book.)
Pizza Hut doesn't want you to know that a standard pizza in Italy contains 500 to 800 calories, but the same meal at Pizza Hut can top 2,100 calories! (You'd need to ride a stationary bike for more than three hours to burn off this mistake. Instead, eat all the pizza you want by making smart choices. EAT THIS, NOT THAT! shows you how.)
Macaroni Grill doesn't want you to know that a single serving of their Grilled Teriyaki Salmon has more than three times your daily allowance of sodium! (Cut your risk of high blood pressure by making smart choices at the same restaurant. You'll find them inside.)

If only you knew the industry secrets, you could eat at any of your favorite restaurants-or chow down on everything from the company vending machine to your kids' Halloween buckets-and know that every decision you made was smart, healthy, and the best possible choice for you. For example, did you know:
At McDonald's, an Egg McMuffin. is actually a healthy choice, with just 300 calories. (The Hotcakes pack more than double that amount!)
At Krispy Kreme, all you need to do is order the Very Berry Chiller instead of the Mocha Dream Chiller, and you'll save 500 calories! (Do that once a week and you'll drop more than 7 pounds this year-without trying!)
At Chipotle, you can cut 570 calories out of your Chicken Burrito just by ordering it as a bowl (without the tortilla) and asking them to hold the rice. (Same great taste, but with 94 fewer carb grams!)
Choosing a cinnamon roll at Au Bon Pain over Cinnabon will save you 463 calories and 20 grams of fat!
In the freezer section of your local supermarket, a turkey pot pie from Swanson's has 610 fewer calories than a turkey pot pie from Pepperidge Farms.
In the produce aisle, you'll get twice the vitamin C-and nine times as much vitamin A-simply by picking red bell peppers over green ones. (Who said eating healthy was difficult?)

And that's why EAT THIS, NOT THAT! is going to change everything. It's time to level the playing field. We're all tired of sneaky calories adding to our waistlines, and having to starve ourselves or spend hours on the treadmill trying to burn off the damage. Now-for the first time-you're in charge. With this simple illustrated guide to thousands of foods--along with the nutrition secrets that lead to fast and permanent weight loss--you'll make the smartest choice every time!

VegCooking Blog interviewed Rory Freedman, one of the authors of the popular diet book; Skinny Bitch.

Can you tell us a little about the new book, Skinny Bitch in the Kitch, and how you came up with all the recipes?

SBK was really a gift to our readers—people who had read SB, changed their diets as a result, and wanted another tool in helping them live the vegan lifestyle.

But Kim and I are not professional chefs; we're just professional eaters. So our publisher hired a cookbook consultant to help us develop the recipes.

Where did you learn to cook? Any formal experience?

Neither one of us had any formal training. We both just spend a ton of time in our kitchens and obsessing about food in general. Eating is, by far, our favorite thing to do.

Do you have a favorite cooking method and favorite ingredient that help keep recipes "skinny"?

A favorite cooking method? I'm a fan of all of them! Anything that gets a pile of random ingredients into a cruelty-free dish works for me! (Although I do have to say, I'm not big on fried and deep-fried stuff.)

Are there any newer vegetarian products on the market that you are particularly fond of or recommend?

I don't know how new they are, but:

•Parma is an amazing Parmesan cheese substitute made from walnuts. It tastes like a dream and is healthy, to boot!

•I've been seeing more and more Gardein soy chicken and soy beef products lately, and they're pretty darn good.

•Sunergia has a soy feta that totally rocks my world!

Any tips or tricks for the at-home chef who wants to be a "skinny bitch"?

Yeah, first get rid of all the dead, rotting, decomposing flesh and haul away all that dairy nastiness. Skinny Bitches are vegan!

Second, get a bunch of vegan cookbooks. Our faves are The Joy of Vegan Baking by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, How It All Vegan and In the Garden of Vegan by Tanya Barnard and Sarah Kramer, Veganomicon by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero, and The Compassionate Cook by Ingrid Newkirk.

If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only eat one kind of food, what would it be?

Ugh! This question is nothing short of torture! One food? Forever? Ugh! If I were being sensible, I'd have to say fruit, simply because it's so healthy. But all the while, I'd be dreaming about nachos, mashed potatoes, chimichurris from Candle Café in NYC, and cupcakes!

What's next for both of you?

We've got three more books in the works: Skinny Bitch: Bun in the Oven (for pregnant women), a Skinny Bitch journal/diary, and Skinny Bastard (for men).

And lots and lots of eating!

Don't let blisters and sore muscles keep you from doing your workout, instead try one of these do-it-yourself treatments from Lillian M. Beard, MD, author of Salt in Your Sock and Other Tried-and-True Home Remedies.

HEEL BLISTER

The remedy: Carefully apply enough lavender oil (available at health-food stores) to fully cover the blister without popping it; this will help it deflate and dry out faster. Reapply every few hours for three to five days or until the blister heals completely.

Why it works: Lavender is a proven anti-inflammatory that can speed the healing of skin irritations. Bonus benefit: The aroma is incredibly soothing.

SORE MUSCLE

The remedy: Saturate a cloth with apple cider vinegar and wrap it around the muscle for 20 minutes; the pain should disappear within a few hours. Reapply every three to four hours for continued relief until the pain is gone for good.

Why it works: Apple cider vinegar is a muscle reliever; it helps to draw lactic acid (the stuff that causes soreness) out of your muscles after exercise.

ATHLETE'S FOOT

The remedy: Drop a few freshly minced cloves of garlic into a cotton sock, and then wear the sock overnight. (Just be sure to wash your feet in the morning with something that has a more pleasant scent!) Repeat the treatment nightly until the fungus disappears, usually within 7 to 10 days.

Why it works: Garlic kills all sorts of fungi—including the one that causes athlete’s foot.

HEAT RASH

The remedy: Mix regular oatmeal (not instant) or cornstarch with water to make a thick paste. Apply to irritated skin, let it dry, and leave it on until it flakes off on its own (the residue will continue to work). Reapply only if it starts to itch again (otherwise you risk over drying the area).

Why it works: Both oatmeal and cornstarch help reduce irritation and swelling, and provide itch relief.

The book Salt in Your Sock and Other Tried-and-True Home Remedies is available in the BEFIT STORE powered by Amazon.com.
